Approach

How do we understand accessibility?

At Sintagma, we work from a perspective that brings together culture, rights, and participation. We understand accessibility as a collective process that expands rights and transforms the cultural experience.

Collective construction

We understand accessibility as a process built through dialogue. We work with diverse teams and encourage the participation of users to design relevant, meaningful solutions.

A rights-based perspective

Our work aims to expand opportunities for access, participation, and enjoyment of culture, promoting practices that recognize people's diversity.

Creative accessibility

Accessibility is also part of the experience itself. We design tools and content that are clear, sensitive, and creative, woven naturally into every project.

Our history

What's our story so far?

Since its founding, Sintagma has developed projects that aim to expand access to culture and strengthen accessibility practices across different fields.

Origin

Sintagma emerged from a thesis project exploring how to build accessibility into the creative process from the start. That work revealed real gaps in audiovisual accessibility in Uruguay.

What are we working toward?

At Sintagma, we work to make accessibility a natural, integral part of cultural and audiovisual production.

Expand access to culture

We want more people to fully take part in cultural life, expanding the opportunities for connection between works, audiences, and experiences.

Transform how things are produced

We advocate for accessibility to be considered from the earliest stages of cultural and audiovisual projects.

Strengthen the accessibility field

Through projects, consulting, and training, we work to support the professional development of this field.

How do we work?

Every project brings its own challenges. That's why we follow a methodology that combines analysis, technical development, and implementation.

We get into the project

We analyze the proposal, its context, and its goals, working closely with the team to identify the key aspects.

We find the best technical solution

We define the most suitable approach: designing resources, offering consulting, or running training processes.

We develop and implement

We carry out the defined actions, supporting the team throughout the entire process.
